The breed as we know it today was started in the early 1980’s in America. It was as a result of crossing the Asian leopard cat with domesticated cats, originally Egyptian Mau’s. Abyssinians or Ocelots.

The Asian Leopard cat

They have a sleek body with a beautiful glittery coat, either ‘marbled’ or ‘spotted’. Their inquisitive nature makes them fun robust pets that fit in well with a family or other animals.

They are playful, and very entertaining. They love water – so don’t expect quiet bath times with them around! . They also love to retrieve things like toys or socks – they will soon let you know that your sock is the object of their play, so hand it over for it to be ‘killed’ then discarded whenever they see fit. They can be vocal and are very loving.
